DESCRIPTION 

LIME OUT will act quickly and thoroughly, being the proper solution for effectively removing limestone and any lime deposit and stain from large metal surfaces, cargo tanks and installations, also being cost effective. It is completely water miscible and also non-flammable. Provided that proper precautions are taken, LIME OUT is easy to apply and use.

LIME OUT is a low pH liquid formulation, containing powerful acids, surfactants and corrosion inhibitors.

LIME OUT is water based, non flammable and IMO-approved. Only cleaners registered in Annex10 of IMO’s MEPC.2/Circular can be used and disposed of at sea for cargo tank cleaning, when the cargo residue slops are disposable at sea.

Its composition meets the criteria for not being harmful to the marine environment according to MARPOL Annex V.

 


APPLICATION

LIME OUT is recommended for removing lime deposits on cargo holds, as well as cleaning any lime stain on metal surfaces and articles. It can replace other products, effectively treating salt deposits and other hard deposits such as rust, also neutralizing strong alkaline/caustic conditions.

LIME OUT can be used to all metal surfaces and parts except from galvanized, Tin, Zinc, Aluminum and Lead surfaces.

USE AND DOSING 

Instructions are based on experience and are meant only as a guide since circumstances for each tank cleaning operation vary. They are not intended to interfere with the judgment of the vessel’s responsible personnel.

Always add acids to water, never the reverse. Since LIME OUT is considered a highly corrosive product, operators must always consult the safety instructions before use, wearing the appropriate safety equipment and having adequate ventilation when using this product.

Always try to preclean tanks with high pressure water, so as to remove large deposits and ensure an effective cleaning operation. Be sure that the surface has dried, before applying the chemicals, in order to avoid unnecessary dilution.

LIME OUT dosing depends on the surface area to be covered, the lime concentration and the application method being used. If contamination persists, repeat the cleaning procedure, until the required result is obtained.

Injection:

Use high-pressure machinery to inject an at least 50% LIME OUT/water solution directly onto the surface. Leave the solution to act for 15 minutes and rinse thoroughly with high-pressure water. Leave the surface to dry. For harder contamination, use more concentrated solutions.

Soaking:

Use undiluted LIME OUT and apply with brushes etc. Leave LIME OUT to soak for 30 minutes and thoroughly rinse with water. Leave the surface to dry.

 

 

RECOMMENDATIONS

It is highly recommended to always test all cleaner solutions on a small area of tank coating, before full scale application.

CAUTION: Do not use on galvanized, Tin, Zinc, Aluminum and Lead surfaces and their alloys.
